JOSEPH GRAHAM, MANAGING PARTNER
Joseph
(Chip) Graham brings 20 years of experience in silvicultural
services and land management to J. H. Graham, Inc. In 1993 he
founded the firm to provide forestry services with integrity and
professionalism to the landowners of North & Central Alabama. In a
relatively short period of time he has gained invaluable hands on
experience in all aspects of the timber industry. Chip possesses the
self-confidence and initiative to serve his clients in all facets of
timberland investments.
In
1990, while working for Drennen Forestry Services, Chip established
a new service area in South Alabama. Through his dedicated efforts
the Montgomery, Alabama-based service area grew to 4 full time
employees with over 30 contract laborers in just two years.
Chip
has worked with foresters and landowners across the Southeast. He
has developed an extensive network of clients and associates with
which to share information regarding the issues facing today’s
timberland managers. His greatest strength is his ability to
maximize client returns through the use of progressive management
practices and present day technology.
His
success is based upon his initiative, willingness to make decisions
and to accept responsibility. These skills along with the experience
of working with people in many different geographic areas allow him

desired results. Chip’s hands on experience in the silvicultural
service industry uniquely qualify him to prescribe and carrying out
forest management practices.
He attended Auburn
University graduating in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in Forestry
Management. Since graduation he has completed numerous continuing

directly participated in the acquisition of an entire community
consisting of more than fifty homes.
JOHN ROSS HAVARD, CLIENT MANAGER
John Ross began working with J.H. Graham Inc. in late June of 2009. His work experience consists of several internships, including two with Larson & McGowin Inc. of Mobile, AL and one with Green Crow Timber in Port Angeles, WA. The majority of his professional forestry experience was with Heath Forestry L.L.C., a contract forestry service company out of Brewton, AL, where he gained nearly four years experience in various aspects of forestry including cruising and marking timber, marking poles, and organizing and coordinating work with clients and other employees, in addition to working with loggers, wood dealers, sawmill procurement personnel, and landowners alike. During that time he has managed to develop good working relationships with individuals from seemingly every aspect of forestry from loggers to mill owners as well as consultants and landowners.
In 2004, John Ross graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, TN with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Forestry. While at Sewanee, he was a member of the varsity football team for three years and earned Academic All-Conference honors. As a product of a liberal arts college, where multiple disciplines are interwoven and comingled to build on one another and create open-mindedness and an “outside the box” approach to problem solving, John Ross takes an integrative approach to forest management. Using what he has learned from his more experienced colleagues combined with new technology and information he tries to maximize returns while achieving multiple management goals with efficient, well-planned management operations. In 2007, John Ross became a Registered Forester in the state of Alabama, and has taken great interest in keeping up to date with the latest market trends and management activities by attending various continuing education classes.
